Artists Statement:
My large theme concentrates on capturing the dynamics
of "the arrested domestic moment," snapshots of every day life
taken by that most amazing camera of all time, the human eye. The setting
for much of my work is Europe, where that moment is still likely to hold
charm and strength. And because of its rich visual possibilities, the table
is a favorite subject of mine. I happen to believe that the table has contributed
as much to civilization as has the wheel. In Europe the table is still an
honored focal point of life, gathered around to celebrate the arts of eating
well and conversing well, to share domestic chores and family amusements.
What I find particularly delightful is the probability that a typical 'arrested
domestic moment' there, (as opposed to here) won't include a television
set.
O'Haverty works with oil, acrylic, inks and pastel,
and many paintings include collage.

New York life for rural Maine. Learned to haul wood, milk cows, drive
a tractor, fight black flies, ski, become involved in community affairs.
Thirty years later, still happily living in Maine with husband, James.
Lucky to have a lovely studio and time to spend working there. Still repeating
mantra learned from painter, friend and teacher, Denny Winters: You don't
have to clean behind the toilet before you go to the studio.
